She began her professional career by being an amateur, taking part in numerous regional promotions prior to joining Invicta Fighting Championships. She was awarded the Women's Strawweight Championship as well as the title of"Fighter of the Night. It was the first time a woman wrestled in a major event in a title fight. Namajunas won a number of bouts following this victory, that included beating Joanna Jedrzejczyk on two occasions. This earned Namajunas Performance Of The Night recognition from UFC.
